HASTINGS, GEORGE ROYSTON

January 26, 1937- February 8, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on February 8, 2022.  Our hearts are broken but he will be reunited with his beloved wife Sheila.  Cherished by his daughter Heather (Mike), and remembered as a proud devoted Papa by his three beautiful grandchildren Bella, Paige and Jason who he thought the world of.  George is predeceased by his parents Florence and George Sr. Hastings. Survived by sister Marvene (Don) whom he adored and his five nieces and nephews Brett (Kathy), Julie, Shauna (Chris), Jim (Carol) and Nicole (Jeff).  Survived by his brother-in-law Frank.

George grew up in Toronto and attended Swansea P.S. and Runnymede S.S where he made many friends.  Over the years he has maintained these friendships and looked forward to the Swansea luncheons where he reminisced about his childhood years.

George worked at Consumers Glass as a sales representative where he traveled extensively and met many bottlers whom he kept in touch with into retirement.  Later in his career he formed great relationships with many local contractors while working on the project desk at Rona.

George loved life!  He was a people person and had a great sense of humor.  Everywhere George went he made a new connection.  He made a point of saying hello to those he passed on the streets of Downtown Oakville.  He enjoyed chatting with his old neighbors on Watson Avenue and at 135 Allan Street.  He was always eager to lend a hand.  George always made a point to stay in touch with friends both near and far - Alex in Chester and Marg in Victoria.

George enjoyed dinners and vacations with his lifelong friends Bill, Joan, Jenny and the late Norm.  There was always a story to be told which usually involved some prank or joke that George was part of.  George enjoyed his morning coffee at Croissant Express with Rollie, Jim, John, Lawrence and Ralph. He looked forward to Friday night dinners with Marilyn and John.  George enjoyed listening to music at the Town Square with his dear friend Enid.

George loved to play golf, smoke a good cigar while listening to Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond.

George will forever be remembered for his witty sense of humor, infectious laugh and kind soul!

Special thanks to the nurses of 3 North at OTMH, especially Laura and April along with the Palliative team - Yolanda and Dr. Kazem.  Your empathy and compassionate care were exceptional.
