Obituary

Surrounded by his family on Sunday December 5, 2010 at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in his 79th year. Fred, Beloved husband of Cynthia for 53 years. Proud father of David and his wife Sue, John and his wife Evangeline, Andy and his wife Genevieve and Rob and his wife Dianne. Loved grandfather of Kristen, Allison, James, Jack, Liam, Megan, Logan and Mya. Fred is survived by his younger brother Don and his wife Angie. Fred led a full life centered around his family and friends and this was reflected in all aspects of his life. After a 20 year career with Safeco insurance, Fred left his position as Canadian Marketing Manager to purchase Utter Morris Insurance Brokers in Burlington, which he operated for 20 years and which remains family operated by two of his sons. His love of the outdoors instilled in him at an early age growing up exploring the coast of British Columbia was passed on to his children during his years as a Scout leader, and through family canoeing trips to the interior of Algonquin Park in the summer, and cross country and downhill ski trips in the winter. Throughout his life he has a passion for gardening, and loved nothing better than family barbeques in his back yard. Later in life he developed a passion for stained glass which became quite sought after by family and friends; as well he donated many pieces to charity auctions. Helping others was a lifelong commitment and Fred was a supporter of many charities, always quick to help, but hesitant to take credit. As a long time supporter of the FareShare Food Bank, any donations to this or a charity of your choice in memorandum would be appreciated.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Friday December 10, 2010 at St. Jude's Anglican Church , 160 William Street, Oakville.
