Dr. Frank George "Papa" Badame suddenly passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Oakville. A man who affected many people's lives in positive ways, Frank was a passionate veterinarian who practiced in Oakville and Mississauga for well over 60 years. Frank's marriage also lasted over 50 years and ended in his wife Elizabeth's death in 2002. They had four daughters, Fran, Julie, Susie and Mary. Son-in-laws Franco and Gary also mourn the loss of Frank. In the later part of his life he had a special relationship with his friend Jean. He was fortunate to be able to live actively – an avid cyclist up until the end of his days. He always had a mischievous way about him and was known for looking for funny things to take away from situations. An example of his lively spirit that existed well into his 80s was on a cold winter afternoon years ago when he joined in a snowball fight (using a mat as a snow-deflecting shield) with his grandsons Alec, Harry, Ben, James and Chris outside of his Oakville home. Frank held himself and those who were close to him to a high moral standard which was apparent in his adamant work ethic and enthusiasm for living an energetic and fulfilled life. Coupled with his passion, "Papa" loved to learn, and feed his curiosity: particularly concerning his profession of veterinarian medicine. His dedication to his work made him an excellent mentor and he played a significant role in the establishment of the first emergency animal hospital in Mississauga. Frank's spirit, while inspiring, is deeply missed by his family and friends. A private memorial service was held on Thursday, September 12, 2013.
