Obituary

Passed away on October 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.  Filippo, beloved husband of Georgina,  loving father of Daniela (Francis Aubry), Claudia (Patrick Teggart) and Marc (Megan), devoted Nonno of Chiara, Gia, Aria, Isla and Joshua, loved son of Vittoria and the late Angelo, and dear brother of Maria, Guido and Ben.  He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Born in Pico, Italy, Fil and his family immigrated to Canada when he was a child.

Fil and Georgina met in university, fell in love, and married soon thereafter. They were blessed with three beautiful children.  As their family grew, they travelled throughout Canada and Italy, spending time in many provincial parks and enjoying adventures together.  They always loved gatherings and events with family and friends.

Fil was an outstanding educator.  Quietly effective in a classroom, a caring teacher and effective administrator, Fil brought leadership to his community and every school he served.

Fil had an adventurous spirit, always up for a walk in the woods, a bike ride, or a trip to the park, especially with his grandchildren. He often liked to take the scenic route so he could take in the world around him.  His love of nature and passion for cycling persisted throughout his life.

In retirement, Fil and Georgina enjoyed world travels and turning ordinary days into something magical.

Fil never gave up.  He inspired many with his positive attitude and determination in difficult situations. He was a man of so few words with so many friends.

As his granddaughter said, 'Nonno always told the best stories, now it is our turn.'

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville from 2-5pm (2-3 will be closed casket) and 6-9pm.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 1150 Monk's Passage, Oakville at 10 am.  Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Milton.  A reception in honour of Fil will be held following the cemetery service at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home Reception Centre - All are welcome.
