Peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 in her 86th year. Fern, beloved wife of the late John, loved mother of Craig and his wife Grace, Joanne and her husband Mike and the late Gayle and son-in-law Scott. Dear Grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Joyce Jenkin, Orm Eakins (June), Isabel Bonham (Jack), Janet Scoufield (Don) and the late Bill Eakins. Fern lived, worked and raised her family, with John, in Oakville. Although Fern's primary focus was always family, she was passionate about her 40 years of service to the Oakville community as a legal secretary and often remarked that she enjoyed her role so much that she felt she had never worked a day in her life. Fern loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had many friends and wonderful neighbours. She was very active in her church community at Walton Memorial Church and cherished the special group of ladies that she met at church each Sunday. Fern will be greatly missed and remembered always. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors at OTMH. Your kindness and compassion is so appreciated. Visitation will be at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, Oakville, on Tuesday, April 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Walton Memorial Church.
