Obituary

Pastor Emeritus of St. James Parish

On Saturday, December 11, 2010, after a lengthy illness, in his residence, was called by the Lord. Survived by his nephew and niece in Italy. Born January 21, 1916 in Torino, Italy. Son of the late Clotilde and Luigi Pucci. Predeceased by siblings Attilio, Tullio and Julia. Educated by the Barnabites and in grade 11 entered the Barnabite noviciate and one year later made simple vow. Spent 4 years in Rome Seminary. Ordained April 8, 1939 in St. John Laterano-Cathedral of Rome. In Genoa between 1939 and 1954 obtained his degree in Biology and his Masters degree in Chemistry. In 1946 he started a summer home for young men, girls and their families in Allomont, Val D'Aosta (Alps Region). In 1955, was named Father Superior of the Barnabites, Buffalo N.Y., Chaplain of the Sisters of Charity and Columbus Hospitals. Built a Seminary next to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. 1962 to 1963 construction of St. James Church, 1964 became pastor of St. James Church until 1990. In 1990 returned to the Shrine in Lewiston, went to Bethlehem, P.A. and to the Phillipines. Retired to St. James Church in 1994. He traveled many destinations but his great love was for hiking, mountain-climbing, music and reading. We thank him for his great dedication, spirituality, inspiring talks and just knowing "he is a wonderful friend to us all". Visiting held at St. James Church, 231 Morden Road, Oakville on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 4-6:30 pm and 7:30-9pm with a Parish Mass at 7pm; then on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 Parish Mass held at 8:15am, with visiting from 9am-6pm and 7:30 – 9pm, with a Parish Mass at 7pm. Then on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 Parish Mass 8:15 am with visiting from 9-10:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment at Fatima Shrine, Lewiston, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. James Church Building Fund.
