Eugene ("Gene") passed away very peacefully on March 3, 2017 in Burlington, Ontario. Born September 16th, 1927 in the farming community of Maxim, Saskatchewan, Eugene was 89 at the time of his passing.

Husband, father, grandfather ("Bestefar"), brother, and uncle, Gene is lovingly remembered by his children Colleen, Garnet (Sally), Brian, by his granddaughters, Emma, Kate, Naomi, and Lena, by his extended family, and by many colleagues and friends from his years with the Alberta Department of Education. He was predeceased by his wife, Corinne, his son Stephen, his sister Odelite, and his parents, Edwin and Anna.

Eugene's wish was for his immediate family to gather together privately and remember him with laughter, stories, and of course, food. Should you wish to honour him and his career in education, his family would be most grateful for a donation to Raise a Reader.
We would like to thank The Brandt Centre, Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, Sunrise Living and Vistamere Retirement Home for the wonderful care they provided in Eugene's final years. We carry with us Gene's sonorous speaking and singing voice, his positive attitude and love of family, and his stories, laughter and smiles.
