Obituary

GRAY , ETHYLE-MAE MARIE (NEE HAUG) passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, Palliative Care, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Castor, Alberta, on August 20, 1940 (84); daughter of Joseph and Muriel Haug.  She is survived by her loving husband Bill; daughter Robin (Yves); sons Kelly (Tomomi) Douglas and John; and cherished grandchildren Lily, Myles, John and Michelle.  Ethyle will be missed by her siblings Norman (Susan) and Dorothy (Brian); and much loved nieces and nephews as well as many friends in the community.   She was predeceased by her sister Joy (Ronald).

Ethyle grew up in Stettler, Alberta, and after receiving her diploma began teaching at age 19.  She loved working with young children and in the school system primarily taught grades 1, 2 and 3.  She and Bill started their own family at her age 25 and left teaching to raise her own children.  After a short time Ethyle returned to teaching at the nursery school level and obtained her Early Childhood Education diploma.

Ethyle loved to travel but not necessarily rising early to catch a flight.  She was a warm, loving and caring person with a smiling greeting to whoever she met.  She was kind and will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be a private interment at a Natural Burial site and a Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm – 4 pm with stories being told at 2:30 pm, February 7, 2025 at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville.
