Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernesto on Tuesday, November 03, 2015 at 89 years of age. He can now join his beloved wife of 61 years, Lucia, his daughter, Ascenza, his sister Emilia, his brothers Ascenzo, Giovanni, and Francesco, his nephews Domenico, Bernardo, and Octavio, his niece Cesidia, and his dear friend and neighbour, Terry. He retired from PPG Canada Ltd in 1991 after 25 years of exceptional service and then began working as a Crossing Guard for the Halton Catholic and Public School Boards for the next 15 years. Ernesto has worked in many other vocations throughout his rich and storied life, too many to name here, however he positively impacted so many lives throughout with his dedicated hard work and unfailing belief in fairness and responsibility for others. Ernesto is survived by his children Maria, Domenico, and Giovanna as well as his sisters Domenica and Mariantonia, the Mastrella family, and his many other nieces and nephews who he dearly loved as well as his dear friends and neighbours Heather and Kendra Lee. He will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren, Matthew, Chloe, Kira, Jessica, Samantha, Katrina, Marisa, and Anika, as well as his great grandchild Landon. The family would also like to dearly thank the many people who have loved, cared, and supported Ernesto during these last years of his wonderful life – the exceptional and dedicated staff of Vistamere and the Waterford: his doctors, nurses, and PSWs, the many dear residents he called friends, OTMH staff, Chaplain Hillar Alkok, and all the many community volunteers and Catholic/Christian priests and faith parishioners who have visited and supported him so unconditionally. For those we have missed, thank you. Family and friends are invited to Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home at 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, from 7-9 pm Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca St, Oakville. Following the church service, Ernesto's burial will take place at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville. Following Ernesto's burial, a memorial lunch reception will take place at Le Dome Banquet Hall, 1173 North Service Road East, Oakville.
