Peacefully, after a brief illness on Sunday July 31, 2016, with family at his side.  Eric, in his 80th year, beloved husband of Lorna (nee Hazelton). Loved father of Sarah and her husband Terry (Cooke). Cherished Poppa of Gibson and Korben. Dear brother of Leslie and his wife Norma and their children Dawn and Tina, all of Yorkshire, England. Survived by brothers-in-law, Robert, Bill, Dennis, Larry (Shirley), Ron (Marlene), Cyril, Raymond (Margaret), John (Heather) and Joe (Cathy). Eric was born in Heckmondwike, Yorkshire, England.   After completing his service with the RAF Eric emigrated to Canada in 1968 where he began a long career with IBM Canada. Eric married Lorna in 1972 and together they lived and traveled across much of Canada. Eric, an avid birder, was actively involved with the Toronto Bird Observatory, Ontario Bird Banding Association, Long Point Bird Observatory, the Hawkcliff Banding Group and co-founder of the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory. In keeping with Eric's wishes, a private family service was held and a memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday August 27th from 1- 4 pm, at the home of Sarah & Terry, all friends and family are invited to attend.
