Passed away peacefully at Post Inn Village, Oakville on January 20, 2011, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Margaret (Stonehouse) and the late Maxine (Maybee). Father of Dixie Trenholm (Locksley) and Bill Dennis (Helen) and Vicki Dennis. Stepfather to John Stonehouse (Grace) and Louise Stonehouse. 'Papa' to Debbie Trenholm, Richard Trenholm (Debbie), Robert Dennis (Maureen), Amy Dennis, John Uvira and Jennifer Uvira. 'Papa' also to five great-grandchildren. Cousin to Graham Dennis (Gay) publisher of the Chronicle Herald, Halifax, N.S. Eric was born in Stewiacke, N.S. and raised in Agassiz B.C. He joined the newspaper at the request of his great uncle Senator W.H. Dennis. Eric served with the newspapers in many capacities over 36 years in Halifax, Ottawa, England and Washington D.C. He was editor of the now Chronicle Herald from 1958 – 1961 and President of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery in Ottawa in 1968-69. He then joined the Nova Scotia Federal Government as Executive Director to revamp the information services. Sincere thanks to all who provided kind and compassionate care, especially the 2nd Floor Willow Team at Post Inn Village during his 5 year stay. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville on Saturday February 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
