Emma Christina Vet (nee Weykamp)

June 18, 1930, Ulft, The Netherlands ~ October 19, 2022, Oakville, ON.

With great sadness, but peace in our hearts, we announce the passing of Emmie Vet on Wednesday October 19, 2022, with her family by her side. Emmie was the beloved wife of Joe (Joop), loving mother of Elaine (Ted Parkinson), Paul (Jill) and the late Caroline (Jim Yurchuk).  Generous and nurturing grandmother of Eric Parkinson (Teal), Jenny (Dean Broadfoot), Cassie (Cyle Hatch), Emily Vet (Jozef Duijvestein), Jacob Vet, Emmie Yurchuk, and Evan Yurchuk.  Devoted great-grandmother of Ella, Owen, Avery, Ross, Heidi, Josie, Caroline, Anna, Lilly, Logan, and Lucas.  Cherished daughter of the late Theodorus and Maria Weykamp.  Dear sister of Tilly, August, Lucie, and the late Wim, Annie, Sjef, Theo and Jan.

After emigrating from Holland in 1954 to Canada, Emmie and Joe settled in Oakville where she operated a successful flower shop with her husband for 25 years. From her famous "Ballie Soep" to her iconic Pot Roasts, Emmie loved to spend time cooking delicious meals for her family. In later years, Emmie enjoyed taking bus trips with Joop, having afternoon tea with friends, and going shopping with Caroline. A woman of strong faith, Emmie was a member of St. Andrews Parish, Oakville, since 1954.

Visitation will be held on Sunday October 23, 2022, at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street).  Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 24, 2022, at St. Andrew Parish, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville at 11:30 am.  A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

As an expression of sympathy - flowers, or a donation to the 'Sleeping Children Around the World' foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
