Emily Cormier-Grant

February 7, 1927 – June 26, 2023
Cormier-Grant, Emily (nee Chaulk) formerly of Oakville, ON and Corner Brook NFLD, passed peacefully on June 26, 2023, at the age of 96. Emily was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. After marrying Basil Cormier and moving from Newfoundland to Toronto after WW2 she worked for a time at Prudential Insurance Toronto and in the Oakville real estate market, but her true passion was raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. Emily was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Bronte Branch for many years as well as the Catholic Women's League at St. Dominics Church in Oakville and spent countless hours volunteering. Well known as a wonderful singer she spent many hours singing in the choir at St. Dominics. After retirement they enjoyed spending winters in Florida. After Basil passed away, she found love again in her later years after meeting and marrying Bob Grant of Oakville through the Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by husbands Basil Cormier and Bob Grant, son John and daughters Ellen Bitting (Skip) of Pennsylvania and Maureen Craig (Wayne) of Parkhill, ON. Survived by sons Paul Cormier (Kathy) of Oakville and Ken Cormier (Kathryn) of West Lincoln. Also predeceased by siblings Mary Crawley (Ken), Mabel Bartlett (Frank), Ernest Chaulk (Phyllis) and Lionel Chaulk (Shirley). Survived by siblings Lewis Chaulk (Davina), Tom Chaulk (Joan), Wayne Chaulk (Denise), Joyce Gilbert (George), Doreen Barrett (Ben), Ruth Dawe (Kevin) and Joan Legge (Ron). Also survived by grandchildren Leann Curtis, Jill Stevenson, Greg Cormier, Heather Tummon, Lyndsey Cormier, Andrea Cormier, Phillip Craig, Adam Craig as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Emily also leaves behind her stepchildren Karen (d. 2018) (John), Betty-Anne (Rod), Theresa (Scott) and Jim (Jennifer) all of whom have families of their own. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 4th 7pm-9pm at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville. Funeral mass will be on July 5th at 10:30am at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca St. Oakville. Immediately following the Mass the family invites you to join them at a reception held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations to the Salvation Army Oakville requested.
