Obituary

Died peacefully on Monday, February 02, 2015 in Oakville, Ontario. She was born on November 17th, 1926, in Derry, Northern Ireland. Predeceased by her husband, John in 2011; Ellen is survived by her children Maurice (Celesta), Aiñe, John, Denis, Elaine Ballinger (Peter), Martina Harkness (Ken); her grandchildren Aimée and Christina Ballinger, and Brendan and April Harkness and one great grandson, Sam. Survived by her sister Rose Caldwell (nee Molloy). Ellen was beautiful, smart, kind, and had a brilliant sense of humour (often referred to as the Derry wit) which will be long remembered by those who knew her; and even up until she made her journey, she managed to smile a few times and thank us for coming by  :)   Her children, grandchildren and great grandchild were the heartbeats of her life, and her granddog Peaches (R.I.P) was her constant companion and friend who protected her like a Leprechaun with a pot of gold. In addition to her husband John, a second love of her life was a magical place called Burtonport, Donegal; located on the northwest coast of Ireland. It was the birthplace of her Father, Conn Molloy, and she and her siblings were sent to this tiny village by the sea for safety and shelter during the Second World War. She often referred to Burtonport as giving her some of the most joyful times of her life, so we are confident that by now, she is gently strolling along Ardlands Strand, her favourite Irish beach at Burtonport, watching the seals flipping about in the Atlantic Ocean, collecting sea shells, being gently kissed by the breeze from the sea, and walking towards her, John, her Mom, Dad, brother, and sisters who we know will take her the rest of the way. We love you Mother, we will miss you deeply, but are comforted knowing that you are finally able to rest, and will be reunited with your Irish roots. Family and friends are welcome to drop by this week and join us in celebrating her spirit, her goodness, and her legacy. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville
