Joan, a sixth generation Canadian, died in Oakville on January 21, 2015. She was born on April 20, 1932 in Montague, Prince Edward Island. She lived in Cape Breton and New Brunswick as a child, and attended Mount Allison University, graduating in 1953. Joan travelled extensively and lived in Ottawa, England, Denmark, and Toronto. She settled in Oakville in 1961. She is survived by three children, David (Catherine), Heather (Gabor), and Ian (Hélène), and four grandchildren, Samuel, Olivia, Gisèle, and Oscar. Joan was predeceased by her husband John Ernest Colman. Joan was an enthusiastic bridge player, an avid reader, and enjoyed attending the theatre and travelling with her family. A memorial service will be held at Kopriva-Taylor Funeral Home (64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville) on Saturday, January 31 at 1pm, followed by a reception at The Oakville Club (56 Water Street, Oakville)at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ian Anderson House cancer hospice (PO Box 61034, 511 Maple Grove Dr., Oakville ON L6J 7P5) or the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank (1240 Speers Road, Unit #6, Oakville, Ontario L6L 2X4) would be appreciated.
