Obituary

It is with great sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Eleonora Brenders (nee Vermue) at home on Saturday June 6th, 2026 in her 83rd year.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over 59 years, Hubert Brenders. She was the dear mother of Kevin (Erin), Kelly (Paul) and Leisa (Malcolm); Eleonor’s greatest joy was being Oma to Sebastian and Charles Brenders, Jamie and Sydney McNaughton and Jacob and Gabriel Elsdon.

She was a proud to be one of nine children and adored her siblings: the late Edward (Catherine) Vermue, Henk Vermue (the late Leny), the late Clasien Groenewegen (John), Annette Van Kempen (Tony), Marlies Buren (the late Cays), Tom Vermue (Judy) (the late Marlene), Trudy McCarthy (the late Doug) and Bill Vermue (Betty Jean). She loved singing with her family growing up and when they could as adults.

She felt blessed to be part of two large families and will be missed by in laws Gene (Johanna) Brenders, the late John (Betty) Brenders, the late Cathy Van Eerd (Hubert), Nettie Van Beers (the late Joe), Joanne Van Eerd (the late Martin), Tony (Margaret) Brenders, the late Peter (the late Marlene) Brenders, Leo (the late Patricia) Brenders, the late Betsy Campbell (Bruce), Adrian (the late Linda) Brenders; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering  will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville, Ontario on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, with service celebrations for Eleonor commencing at 3:30 pm. Cremation has taken place and Internment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Eleonor are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
