Of Oakville, Ontario, passed away suddenly in his 74th year, Friday, May 27th, 2011 at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, Ontario. Beloved husband of Elma. Loving father to Rod (Karen), Colin (Bonnie), and Nancy. Devoted Papa of Alexander, Blake, Erin, Andrew, Theo and Lucas. Eldon will also be sadly missed by his brother Lester and sister Dorothy. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Eldon and his family made their home in Oakville. Starting with a position of credit clerk, Eldon quickly rose through the ranks culminating with over 20 years of senior management positions. He retired in the position of Chief Operating Officer for Aluma Systems North America in 1997. Eldon was always very involved in the Oakville Community. Throughout his 44 years in residence, his commitment and dedication to various organizations was exemplary. This included, President of the Oakville Minor Soccer Association, roles with Boy Scouts of Canada, an elder at Hopedale Presbyterian Church, and laterally, after retirement within the Bruce Trail Conservancy, and Oakville Pathfinders. His tremendous leadership and strong sense of integrity served to draw the admiration of all who met or volunteered with him. Eldon adored music, the outdoors and literature all of his days, but there was nothing in this world he loved more than his dear wife Elma. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville on Thursday, June 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Following a private interment, a service of remembrance will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at Hopedale Presbyterian Church, 156 Third Line, Oakville with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Bruce Trail Conservancy or Hopedale Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
