Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elda Chianta on January 21, at the age of 92.

Elda was a loving wife to her late husband, Giulio Ceccarelli, and William Chianta. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Loretta (Albert), and son, Louie (Wendy). Elda was a caring grandmother to her grandchildren, Albert, Marusca (Rosemarie), Natasha (Chris), Crystal (George), Jordan (Sonya), and Joshua (Gina). Proud great grandmother, Elda, will also be remembered by her great-granddaughters, Bronwyn, Mackenzie, Keira, Vivienne, Alyssandra, and Beau.

After World War II, Elda bravely left Italy, with her husband and daughter, sister and mother, in the 1950's and immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for her and her family. In her later years, she was an active committee member of the Umbria Association in Toronto, assisting with dances, annual picnics, and special events, for the Italian community. She was proud of her Italian heritage and passed that pride and love on to the next generation of her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, love of her family, and her delicious Italian cooking and baking. She had a zest for life and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home 64 Lakeshore Rd. W. (one block east of Kerr St.) 10:00 – 11:00 am, January 25, 2022, with Funeral Service commencing at 11:00 am. Funeral Service will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home at 64 Lakeshore Road, West, Oakville, with burial to follow at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oakville Hospital Foundation or SickKids Foundation
