Edward passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021 at the age of 95. He is predeceased by his loving wife Zuzanna and sister Danuta. He leaves behind his sister Wanda, children Marek (Heather), Ewa (Stewart) and grandchildren Madeline, James, Reilly, Cooper, Avery and Quinn. His sister-in-law Josephine, nephew Andrew and brother-in-law Vincent were also very close and dear to his heart.
Born in Poland near the Ukrainian border, Edward was a proud WW II veteran, joining the Polish 2nd Corps training in Palestine after being taken away in April, 1940 at the age of 14 to Siberia. He fought with distinction in the Italian Campaign most notably at the Battle of Monte Casino.
He was a principled gentleman with a hard working spirit. He came to Canada in 1948 and began a new life. He was an athlete, serving as the calisthenics leader in his unit. For 15 years, he played semi-professional soccer in Toronto and was Captain/Centre Half for the Polish White Eagles winning the National Soccer League championship in 1956. He played with his closest friend, Marian Biernacik and met his bride Zuzanna at a soccer match.
He started Supreme Rubber Stamp manufacturing rubber stamps initially on Queen Street West in Toronto and then until well into his 70's on Bloor Street West just east of Dundas. He set a wonderful example of hard work and trust each and every day. The fruits of that labour help build Wacyk's Cottage on Dam Lake in Kaszuby as well as a second cottage on Georgian Bay, both of which carry on his great legacy.
He valued education and travel but always said that he didn't need to travel any longer since he had seen too much of the world in a bad time. He did encourage his children and grandchildren to explore the globe and showed his deep love for them in numerous ways.
After his 80 th birthday, he spent five long days painting the interior of his son's home!
On his 90th birthday after a celebration, he climbed up a ladder and cleaned out his eavestroughs!
We are so very blessed to have had him in our lives for so long and will miss him dearly.
