Passed away in his 99th year on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Post Inn Village Long Term Care Centre in Oakville. Husband of Irene (Rene-deceased) and father to Brian and Dennis (deceased). Special friend to Jeff and Michelle Knoll and their family as well as adopted "Grandpa" to David Knoll. "Uncle Ted" is fondly remembered by family in England; Shirley, Stuart, Lol and their families, by his friends at St. Jude's and those back home; the Jacobs and Neales. Ed was born in Wolverhampton, England in 1912 as one of 7 siblings. Ed served his King and Country in his beloved Royal Tank Corps from 1930-36 and again during the war from 1939-44. His military career culminated with his capture in France in 1940 and ensuing four years in a Prisoner of War Camp in Germany. The Crump family immigrated to Canada in 1956. Ed loved life, his family, his friends and God. He was always ready with a great story, a Winston Churchill quote or a corny joke until the very end. He enjoyed his 99th birthday with friends and family on July 5th and went home to be with Irene and Dennis only a few weeks later. Ed is resting at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600). Oakville and visitors can pay respects Friday, July 22, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 Williams St., Oakville on Monday, July 25 at 4:30 pm followed by a reception in the Church Library. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre (www.opnc.ca) or St. Jude's Anglican Church building fund (www.stjudeschurch.net).
