Mom joined the love of her life Jim on the early morning hours of Aug 7th

Both were born in Montreal and met in the 1920's and wed when Mom was 16.

For nearly 60 years they laughed almost every day and would often be seen holding hands or teasing each other. They loved and respected each other and we never ever heard them argue.

Topsy had a very positive attitude and always saw the best in others. Rarely an unkind word.

Already missed by her children, Janey (Paul), Jim (Carolyn) and her granddaughter Andrea. (definitely her favourite)

Predeceased by her dear sister Gwendolyn Sherhols and Bill Sherhols.

She will be missed by her niece Rhondda Snowdon (Jim), and her family.

Nephew Peter Sherhols & family and the family of Bill Sherhols.

Holidays with the Howards and Sherhols's were always magical because of these 2 sisters and our Dads.

In 2015 Mom was honoured to be asked if she'd mind if the newest addition to the Sherhols family took her name Edith, as a middle name.

Everly Edith Sherhols.

Survived by her last sister-in-law Marjorie Weldon (Kurt).

Visits for Hockey Night in Canada with a dozen French pastries were always welcome. Or a visit to their Pine Street apartment downtown Montreal was an adventure.

Topsy was very creative. She joined a knitting club at the church when she was 5 years old and knitted almost every day until well into her nineties.

She sewed just about everything from home decor, 100's of dresses for her family, costumes for Halloween and many school plays.

Beautiful dolls and toys for gifts and bazaars

Needlepoint & Christmas decorations, always something on the go.

If there was a party on Friday in 3 days, you didn't have to ask, because Mom would say, "do you want a new dress or maybe a pantsuit?

WELL YES!

"Then we better get to Fabricland right away."

Tidiness was always on her agenda. Beyond daily cleaning was "Friday, Friday, Keep Your Nose Tidy" which involved the added bonus of moving out the stove and fridge, washing the floors in our cupboards and wiping the bottom of our shoes whether we had worn them that week or not.

She was a very energetic Mom.

Vacations were an annual must with visits to the States to see Uncle Bruce and the Howard relatives or a cottage on Lac des Pins in Rawdon.

But on April 13th, 1970, Mom and Dad's favourite pastime was changed forever to babysitting and spending time with Andrea. She always remained their favourite.

Often asked what her secret to long life was, the reply was, "I don't know"

But to those of us who knew her best, I think we'd all agree it was that positive attitude, energy, and enthusiasm to make the people around her happy.

Topsy was a proud Sunday school teacher and was very involved in St. George's Church in Laval West until Dad retired and they moved away.

Since then Mom being a very shy person preferred kneeling by her bed at night to say her quite lengthy prayers.

She always kept her faith in God.

We love you Mom. Say Hi to Dad!!
