With great sadness we announce the passing of Dwight Peter Nowlan on Monday, February 13 ^th ,   2017. Much loved and cherished husband of Patricia Nowlan (nee Wright), proud father of Ruth Nowlan Glenn, Katherine (Donald) Geisler and Michael (Christine) Nowlan. Devoted and doting grandfather of Jessica, Samuel, Jocelyn, Joel, Ryan and James. Leaving to mourn Brothers Karl (Joyce) Nowlan, James (Betty) Nowlan, Bruce (Pearl), and Paul; Sister Joyce Nowlan, predeceased by sister Miriam Nasager. He leaves to mourn also many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly. Dwight's greatest delight was his family and he treasured each and everyone. In his own words "a simple God fearing person, who loves life, our family, and our friends to the fullest".

Dwight was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia April 1937, worked throughout his growing years on the family farm and in the family business. In 1956 he joined the Bank of Montreal in Wolfville N.S. as a Junior and throughout an interesting and challenging career spanning approximately 44 years he and his family lived in Newfoundland, PEI, Montreal, Burlington, Calgary, Edmonton, and Oakville, Ontario. He thoroughly enjoyed his banking career, considering himself the most fortunate of men to be one who could do something he enjoyed. He retired from his position as Senior Vice President in April, 2000.

After many years of hard work and long hours Dwight made the most of his retirement years; spending time with his beloved grandchildren, fishing, travelling and taking the time to indulge in his love of reading, mainly history and poetry. His strong Christian faith, much tested over the years, gave him perspective and he considered it a privilege to be able to serve at Central Baptist Church whether as Chairman of Finance Committee or part of ground cleanup crew. In Dwight's own words "He is our guiding light and we are thankful every day for His blessings". As his health declined he took great delight in watching the wonders of nature unfolding in his back garden, telling stories and enjoying meaningful conversations with family and friends.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful treatment he received from caring staff at Princess Margaret Hospital and more recently the blessing of Palliative Care Providers: Dr. Benjamin and nurse Liliya who were heaven sent.

Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600) Oakville, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017. A celebration of Dwight's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Central Baptist Church, 340 Rebecca St., Oakville.
