Passed on August 20, 2022 in Oakville. Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia to Leta and Richard Bickle in 1936. Married to the love of his life, Ruth for 68 years. They spent a majority of their married life in Oakville where they raised their four children Kim (Diane), Cindy (Hughie), JoAnne (Paul) and John (Kristine). Doug was a very involved parent spending much of his free time on the ice, initially as a coach for his children and later on as a referee. His love for baseball grew when the Toronto Blue Jays joined the major leagues in 1977 and he in all probability, watched every one of their games throughout the years. He also had a passion for playing, watching and (thanks to his beloved wife's fashion sense) dressing for the fairway. He took pleasure in most sports and loved going to watch his grandchildren Sara, Mark, Erynn, Cailey, Jason, Dylan, Eric, Jakob and Jessamyn play when he was able to. He also loved to hear about his great grandchildren Olivia, Abigail, Sullivan, Bennett, Chase, Brooklyn. He was a hard, dedicated, worker who spent many years and even more miles on the road as a transport truck driver. It was a career he always loved and enjoyed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 26, 2022 at Bronte Legion from 1-3 pm
