Obituary

The family of Dorothy Blanche Crosier is saddened to announce her peaceful passing at age 90 on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. Dorothy was an incredible great-grandmother, grandmother, aunt, sister, wife and mother who was the true glue of her family.

Dorothy will be missed tremendously by her four children: Carol Crosier, David Crosier (Lydia), Brian Crosier (Catherine) and Allan Crosier. Her loss is also felt by her grandchildren: Elizabeth (David), Michael (Tyley), Stephanie (Joshua), Rebecca, James and Rachael. Dorothy's great-grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, Jacob, Arie, Isaac and Eli, have also felt her love.

Her extended family in Sudbury, led by her baby sister Elizabeth, will also miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her true love of 53 years, Leonard Crosier, youngest son Stephen Crosier, sisters Phyllis and Alice, and half-siblings Joe Martell, Nancy Young, Art, Doug and Raymond Goddard.

Dorothy grew up the daughter of Philip and Alice Goddard in Sudbury and was as strong as the Canadian Shield that surrounded her childhood. She was incredibly close to her four sisters. It was in the northern city that she met Leonard at a church dance and they fell for each other.

The couple had five children and settled on Pinegrove Road in Oakville for more than 60 years. They were heavily involved in their school and church communities.

Dorothy was awarded for her volunteerism. She worked with Front Row Centre and sat on its executive board. Dorothy never shied away from singing aloud and was a passionate member of the Kerr Street Singers for decades.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Chartwell Brant Centre Long Term Care Residence and Delmanor Glen Abbey retirement home for their care and effort, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visitation will take place Thursday at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Rd., followed by lunch. A procession from the church to St. Jude's Cemetery, 258 Lakeshore Road West, for interment will begin at 1 p.m.

Donations in Dorothy's honour to the Canadian Red Cross , the Canadian Cancer Society and the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
