Marilyn passed away peacefully at The Waterford Long Term Care in Oakville, Ontario on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Frederick Robert (Bud) Cox (predeceased 2004) for 55 years. Loving Mother of Stephen Cox (Patricia), Janet Myers (David) and Howard Cox (Donna). Dear Grandmother of Michael Cox (Blaire), David Cox, Leon Cox (Alexis), Melissa Myers, Victoria Cox (Matthew), Philip Cox (Heather), Gordon Cox, Andrew Cox (Kaylee) and Alexandra Cox (Corey). Great-Grandmother of Isabella and Alexander Cox. She will be missed by-in-laws Donald Cox (Sheila), Jerry Cox (Ann) (predeceased), Wilf and Shirley O'Grady (predeceased) and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was born in Stratford, Ontario to parents Lewella and Sydney Young along with her sister Vivian Budd (Keith) (predeceased) and her brother, R.C.A.F. Warrant Officer Gordon Kenneth Young, WWII, who lost his life in battle in 1943. She started her career as an elementary teacher in Stratford and left the paid workforce to raise her family. Later, she returned to teaching special education in Burlington, and then the deaf in Milton. Marilyn and Bud enjoyed early retirement with friends at The Home Town in Stayner, Ontario and wintered in Florida each year. Reading, playing cards, knitting, and pets were some of Marilyn's passions. Also, not to forget, her good sense of humour which the staff at The Waterford always enjoyed. She will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you to all of Marilyn's caregivers at The Waterford for their exceptional care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Eulogy at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments and sandwiches will be served.
