Donna Mary Canzi (nee McKinnon)
Dec. 10, 1941- February 19, 2023


Donna passed away peacefully at Wyndham Manor Nursing Home, Oakville. Donna was born in Toronto, Ontario to Leonard and Mildred McKinnon in 1941. She was the second oldest and only girl of the five children. Donna lived and grew up in Toronto, attending St. Bridges elementary school attended Notre Dame High School. One of her first jobs was at Ontario Hydro. She met her late husband Frank Canzi on a trip to Hawaii, in the late 70's. Donna was travelling with a girlfriend and each brought their mothers. Frank was attending a Knights of Columbus Convention. Frank met Mrs. McKinnon and they chatted about work and he mentioned he worked at Ontario Hydro.  Mildred said her daughter had worked there and  Frank said they should meet. They quickly realized that their paths never crossed. Frank was a Hydraulic Engineer and Donna worked as a receptionist. They courted and were married in 1980.


Predeceased by loving husband Frank Canzi (2010) and his son Edward (2020). Also, predeceased by her younger brothers and their wives Ronald (Mikalina), Paul (Fran) and James. Survived by her caring brother Dean and her sister-in-law Anthea. Loved by her two nephews and niece. Brian (Susan), Kevin (Ericka) , Rhonda Tasson (Harold). Donna was a beloved great aunt to 10 and also great-grand aunt to 3 with another on the way.

Affectionate Stepmother to Gerry Canzi, Tom Canzi (Marlene) and Martha Forbes (Paul). Donna affectionately attended birthdays, confirmations, graduations, wedding showers, weddings, baby showers etc. of her 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren She was a loving and caring sister, stepmother, and friend.

She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed meeting people. Later with husband Frank, came many trips to the Caribbean and throughout the U.S. attending Knights of Columbus Conventions. As a widow she continued to travel. She enjoyed the theatre, live music at the Rex and Grossman's, lunches with friends, especially at The Duke of Cornwall. She enrolled in adult learning courses at the University  of Toronto. A big fan of the Colorado NHL team, especially Nathan MacKinnon (no relation), but never gave up on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Doctor Omar Zayid, also to the wonderful nurses, caregivers and service providers at Wyndham Manor in the Bronte section, for their care, compassion and patience.

Cremation has taken place. Private family burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill.
