IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diana Mary
Saulez
September 28, 1943 – July 25, 2025
Born in Chester, England, Diana found her passion early in life when she first took scissors to her teddy bear's hair. She was raised by loving parents who supported her goal of opening her first hair salon in Pinner after she trained at Fortnum and Mason in London to become a Master Hair Stylist. She was surrounded by great friends from school, church and her neighbourhood, including her future sister-in-law Bridget who also helped out as a model for new hairstyles. Diana fell in love with Rob, the ever loved father of her children Andrew and Caroline, and followed him across the Atlantic to start life in Toronto where she began work at the salon at the Royal York Hotel and rented a room in an apartment with a group of girls who would be friends forever including Liz who became the sister she never had and is still 'Aunty Liz' to Caroline and Andrew.
Married life brought her to Oakville where she moved onto Richard's Crescent and found a circle of friends that have also lasted a lifetime. "The Richards Crescent Crowd" built a social life filled with car rallies and dart parties and support for each other as young parents. A move to Bronte offered yet another group of wonderful neighbours that quickly became friends as people gathered at the Saulez pool to swim and barbecue and share many laughs. She loved being a mother and nourished her children with her natural kindness and boundless love and was always their biggest fan, not only at the theatre productions and sporting events over the years but also in the daily challenges of their lives. Diana loved to cook and host parties for all ages and her food and handmade decorations made every holiday and occasion feel like you had stepped onto a page of Martha Stewart Living. She loved to dance and she and Rob would quickly have an audience when they danced at weddings and dinner parties. She picked up her tap dancing shoes once again as an adult training and performing at the Fleming School where she also doubled as the hair stylist for their wonderful shows. As a mother she still worked part time keeping her client's hair looking beautiful, volunteered at St Dominic's parish and school and as the kids grew up she started working full time again and became an active part of the Oakville community through work with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, as chair of the Athena Committee and as a volunteer for 25 years at Wellspring. Her circle of friends continued to grow and she reconnected with Ann, a neighbour and friend from Richard's Crescent, and the two began travelling together and having adventures with other friends and family around the world, taking part in activities more daring than they even admitted to their children! Their friendship has been an inspiration to those around them as they support and care for each other and their families and wider group of friends. And just as most people around her were retiring, Diana decided to open her own salon once again and created a place where her clients booked a hair appointment but came for the company and care that Diana was truly born to provide.
Diana finally put down her scissors on June 1 as she took a very short time to rest before leaving this world for her next great adventure.
Her son Andrew with his wife Sarah and her daughter Caroline with her husband Ali are feeling the weight of her loss in a profound way and are intensely proud of the legacy of kindness she has left behind. She is deeply missed by her many, many, many amazing and adored friends, all of her clients who she thought of and cared for as family, her dear brother, treasured nephew and cousins in the UK and BC.
