Denton Arnold Grenke, engineer and musician, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his winter home in Dunedin, Florida. Born in 1940 in Parry Sound, Ontario, he began songwriting in his 70s and recorded his first country album at age 80.
After graduating from the General Motors Institute, Denton began his career at GM. As an engineer and Plant Manager, Denton worked for Ford Motor Company in Canada (Oakville Assembly Plant; St Thomas Assembly), the United States (Edison Assembly Plant), and Taiwan (Ford Lio Ho).
Throughout his life, Denton traveled the world with his cherished wife Suzanne Loranger Grenke. Together, they were passionate mentors and philanthropists, supporting women's issues in Canada, the US, and Asia. He was an avid Blue Jays fan and attended Spring Training in Dunedin, FL every season for over 20 years.
Denton is survived by his daughter Karen Grenke, son-in-law David Vining, his cherished granddaughters Harper and Stella, and his sister Geraldine Wilson and his extended family. He will be deeply missed by friends around the world.
Family and friends will be received at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville on Friday, January 20th at 1:30pm for a celebration of Denton's wonderful life. Denton's legacy lives on in the inspiration he gave those who knew and loved him to embrace life and pursue new experiences no matter their age.
