Peacefully, at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on December 10, 2008, David Young, age 61, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. His extraordinary strength and integrity stands as an example to us all and his kindness and generosity brought joy to many. Dearly loved husband of Betty Jane (nee Taylor). Cherished father of Jenny and Eric. Dear brother of Marcia (Peter) Blundell and Douglas (Debbie MacLeod). Brother-in-law of Eric and Pat Taylor, Jon Taylor, Pat Taylor-Thwaits, Brenda Young and Donna Young. He will also be fondly remembered by all of his nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Elinor Young and his brother, Robert. He and his family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the nursing staff of 4East for their professionalism, empathy and grace. He fought ceaselessly for the community and was a guiding light in all our lives. The flames of his character have spread through us all. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) 7-9pm Monday. A Service of Remembrance celebrating the life of David will be held 1pm Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Wellspring Halton-Peel or Affordable Housing Halton, would be appreciated.
