We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Pocrnic on April 26, 2026, in his 91st year. David was a man of great character and warmth who leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and simple joys.
Beloved husband of Helen (Jelka) (née Kostelac) for over 57 years. Loving father of David (Joanne) and Stephanie (Adrian Turrin). Cherished brother of Olga (Ivan Pocrnic) and Jela (the late Jure Oreskovic). He is predeceased by his parents Grga & Luja Pocrnic and his brothers Mile and Nikola, and sisters Kate, Mare, Mandica, Luja, Ruza, and Ankica.
David was a beloved brother-in-law to Marija (Tom Mrsic), the late Mande & John Culumovic, and a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Perušić, Croatia, he immigrated to Canada in 1960 as a young man in search of a better life. He fell in love with Helen (Jelka) and married in 1968. They built a beautiful life in Oakville where they raised their two children, David and Stephanie.
He was a dedicated hardworking man, who worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Long Manufacturing for over 25 years.
He was proud of his Croatian roots and enjoyed attending the annual Licko Prelo dinner dances. David was an avid card player, and enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to the garden, sitting on the front porch and going for short walks.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed. Počivaj u miru Božjem.
Thank you to all the nurses and staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the care and support you provided to David.
