Obituary

Peacefully at home on June 22, 2021 David James Pell was called home after a 21 year battle with COPD.

David will be sadly missed by his partner and friend Susan Gillis. They enjoyed a great life traveling, gardening, cooking and having precious time together. Thank you for the excellent care you provided him.

David was born on May 1, 1953 to the late Gladys A. Pell (Armstrong) and James E. Pell. Predeceased by his sisters Karen and Wendy Leaver (Murray). David will be greatly missed by his sisters Dianne Hilditch (Fred) and Kathy Patrick (Ron predeceased).

David was a devoted father to Carrie Anne (Paul) and was cherished and loved by his grandchildren Ashley, Jessica and Ryan. David was very close to his many nieces and nephews Shawn and Kerri Hilditch, Ben and Grace, Brooke Hilditch and Jeff Scruton, Quinn and Owen, James and Alicia Patrick, Matthew, Hailey and Connor; Stacey and Ryan Roszell, Emily, Ethan and Erika, Thomas and April Patrick, Ella and Nolan, and Leigh Anne and Rick McMartin, Madison and Kody. David was predeceased by his wife Noreen Johnson.

David helped his Dad on the farm for many years and then journeyed into his own business in the construction field, operating as Dave Pell Haulage and Bobcat Services for many years. He plowed snow for the Town of Oakville for many years. After he retired from his construction business he took a job with Brinkman Reforestation and worked for them until it became too difficult.

David loved to get into his big red truck and drive the countryside checking out all the farms, crops, the changing landscapes and anyone he knew to see what they were up to. Throughout his life he had many fancy cars. He loved to travel, experience new places and enjoyed skiing in his younger days.

David was available to lend a helping hand, give sound advice, lead you in the right direction and provided support whenever it was needed. David was a great man with a good heart and everyone that knew him would agree that being in his presence was always a good time.  Some may have also thought that at times, he may have had a bit of a stubborn streak. Life recently has been a struggle for him. May he rest in peace now and watch over us all.

In lieu of flowers David would like you to make donations to Acclaim Health or The Lung Association . We would like to thank all the great doctors, nurses and PSW's who provided David with the best of care over these past few months.

Visitation will be held on on Saturday June 26, 2021 from 9 am until 11:45 am at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home.
