It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and great-uncle, Dave, after many months in the hospital. He is survived by his wife Jan, his daughter Ali, his sister Barbara, his niece Debra, his nephews Paul, Mark and Michael, a few cousins and several great- grand nieces and nephews.

Dave grew up London, England and went to Manchester University where he obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering. He was a hydrometallurgist and worked in Toronto with the same company, through many name changes, for over forty years. He travelled the world going to such places as Siberia, Mongolia and worked and lived in South Africa and Australia for several years.
Dave and Jan joined the same amateur operatic society and met in January 1970. They were married in April 1971, and in 1979, Dave and Jan, plus Ali emigrated to Canada.
In his spare time he was a keen amateur musician who played the clarinet in a jazz band. He also got real pleasure from singing in operatic societies, and performing in concerts in several singing ensembles including at Walton and Voices in the Night. On multiple occasions Dave and Ali sang together, with Jan playing the piano. They also performed We Three Kings as a trio, a few times at Christmas.
After much reading, meditation and the practicing of yoga, Dave became a Buddhist in the Thai Forest Tradition about twenty years ago. He had a very strong faith and was kind and compassionate. He was always willing to listen and help when needed.
Dave also got great joy from bridge, portaging with his three buds and from cheering on English rugby and the Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United teams from the Premier League Football (soccer).
Dave will be greatly missed by everybody who knew him and if you would like to donate in his memory, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Tisarana Buddhist Monastery or the Oakville Hospital Foundation.
A Memorial Service will be held at Walton Memorial United Church in Bronte on Saturday 14 January 2023 at 11am. There will be a reception afterwards in Bronte Hall.
