(nee Severinac)
(Lifetime member of the CFU)
Peacefully at home in Oakville, surrounded by her loving family on
Saturday, May 28, 2011 in her 72nd year.
Beloved wife (of 44 years) of the late Joseph Perichak (Sudbury).
Predeceased by her younger sister Linda Juncal and her parents
Ignac and Danica Severinac. Loving mother of Catherine (Gordon Bobesich), John (Linda) and Joseph. Cherished grandmother of Stephan, Gregory, Jaclyn, Sean and Kaitlyn.
Survived by sister Lilly Pocrnic and brother John Severinac. Will be sadly
missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. From the onset of her diagnosis and illness, Danica exemplified the qualities of courage, faith, wisdom and organization.
Over the past year, she approached her illness with calmness and confidently ensured that all matters were addressed including the arrangements for "The Celebration of Her Life" (in her words). While listening to her meditation tapes, she happily contemplated that moment when her spirit would travel down the dark tunnel towards the light – where she would undoubtedly be re-united with her beloved Joe, her sister Linda, her parents, and her nephew Johnny.
She was not saddened by her physical death or by leaving her loved ones behind. "I will always be with you". Rather, she was focused on the journey ahead. She prepared herself without fear, with joy and with an expectation which was admired by all. For her positive energy, her spiritual strength, her sense of organization (not wanting to be a burden to anyone), her wisdom and her courage, we will, as a family, be always grateful for the example which she unselfishly set for us.
May her journey toward the light and her loved ones be the lesson which encourages us to live life fully and joyously. With heartfelt thanks, the family of Danica, wishes to thank the many health care professionals, family and friends who made her journey and our journey an easier one. Her wishes to pass, on her terms, in her residence were made possible by the pre-mentioned. For this gift we are grateful. Visitation was held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 6-9pm. A Funeral Mass was held at 11am on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church, 2110 Trafalgar Road, Oakville. Cremation.
Complying with Danica's wishes, donations to Wellspring Cancer Support Center Oakville (www.wellspring.ca) will be graciously accepted. To "Celebrate her life" Danica has requested that any floral tributes sent be in her favourite colour of yellow.
