It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Connie, wife of Leo (2014), mother of Adrian (Cheryl), Elizabeth (Don), grandmother of Lenore (Justin) and great grandmother of Brayden, Colten, and Hadley.

Born in the Netherlands, she survived the years of occupation during WWII.  Her family had befriended a Canadian soldier, Lloyd Perry, in the Dutch liberation.  Later, with a young family and dreams of a better life, she sought out Mr. Perry to be our immigration sponsor, knowing only his name and approximate location.  He became a lifelong friend.  She succeeded in her quest, despite having only recently learned basic English.   Such was her spirit and determination to create a better life for her children.  This spirit drove her extraordinary desire to help others her entire life.  She did so through friendships, generous charitable contributions, as well as her decades of volunteer work in long-term care homes.

She was an excellent singer and was highly skilled in knitting, embroidery and sewing.   She was also a creative cook.  Her talent in creating daily meals on our summer camping trips as kids, using just a two- burner camp stove, was simply magical.  Special occasions always called for baking, including special Dutch treats and her "killer" cakes.  Only now do we appreciate how much effort this took!

A deeply religious woman, Connie joyfully carried her faith in all she did throughout her life.  She travelled the world, gathering relics and holy water that remained with her until she was called home, to be Safe in the Arms of Jesus.
