IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Colin
Connelly
January 11, 1962 – October 2, 2023
Colin Connelly, 61, of Perth, Australia, along with his partner Heather Frank, passed away unexpectedly on October 2nd whilst visiting family in Ontario, Canada.
Colin was born on January 11th, 1962 to James and Morag Connelly in Portsmouth, England. The family moved to Canada in 1968. After graduating from Oakville Trafalgar High School he went on to study at University of Waterloo. After graduation, he emigrated to Western Australia where he worked as an IT specialist. Colin built a life rich with family and amazing friends from Canada, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Throughout his career in IT he worked on many different projects but he was most passionate about the work he did with the governments of Fiji, Vanuatu and The Solomon Islands assisting in the creation of systems to support their education departments. Colin wrote programs to improve the ability of children from very poor communities, including those with disabilities, to access a quality school education.
Colin lived a life full of adventures spanning the globe. He loved to be active whether it was cycling in Europe, boxing in Fiji, kayaking in the Yukon, camping in Western Australia, kite surfing whenever he could or boating in Canada.
He was lucky to know Heather for many years before they became a couple. She matched his love of travel and adventure and it is devastating that their life together has been so cruelly taken.
Colin is predeceased by his father, James. He is survived by his Mother Morag Connelly; his brothers, Ian Connelly (Stephanie Connelly) and James Connelly (Trisha Connelly); his three nieces, Zoe Connelly, Ailidh Connelly and Holly Connelly.
A private family service will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, Oakville, on Friday October 13th, 2023 at 1pm. In Lieu of flowers the family has created a Go Fund Me page to support the Up Town Boxing Gym, Suva, Fiji, which was Colin's passion project that he supported for many years.
A celebration of Colin's life will be held at a later date in Oakville, Canada
