IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clifford Edwin
John Davidson
August 14, 1933 – March 19, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband and father Cliff Davidson, peacefully at home in Oakville on Sunday. He succumbed to complications from Dementia. He was the son of Jack and Florence Davidson of Dublin, Ireland, and is survived by his wife Trudy, son John, daughter Colene (Morgan Davies), sister Vanessa, brother in law Dudley, grandchildren Carson and Evan and his extended family in Ireland.
Born in Dublin, Cliff was an early star both on and off the field of play. In High School he was Captain of both the Rugby and Cricket teams, as well as being appointed Head Boy. Following that he enrolled in Trinity College, Dublin, where he studied and won awards in Mathematics and Chemistry. After completing University, in 1956 he immigrated to Canada, where he began a long career with Shell Canada Ltd., first in Montreal and later in Sarnia, Oakville and Toronto, where he retired as a senior executive. Throughout his life he maintained a keen interest in Rugby, including Captaining the Eastern Canada team.
Some of Cliff's favourite pass times included ferrying his bride around in a white convertible MGB, cheering on the Blue Jays, steering his children in the right direction and filling his pipe at the end of a long day. Cliff also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing trips to the West Coast, vacations at Sanibel Island in Florida and his Shell and Rugby Pub lunches. He will be remembered for his generous help of others, his white hair, blue eyes and warm laugh, his love of the family pets Felix, Tigger and Rex and his unending devotion to his wife Trudy.
The memorial gathering to celebrate Cliff's life will take place on Friday, March 24th 2017 from 2-4pm at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville, Ontario, 64 Lakeshore Road West (905) 844-2600. A prayer will be offered at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation.
