Obituary

CHRISTOPHER MARSDEN BAILEY

February 13, 1941 – March 14, 2024

Surrounded by his three children, Michael, Gwyneth and Mark, and listening to his favourite Irish ballad, Oh Danny Boy, Christopher Bailey peacefully passed away on March 14, 2024 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after a brief but determined fight against cancer.

Christopher was loving husband to Mary who passed away in 2017. He leaves behind his three children, eight grandchildren, Megan, Catherine, Hanna, Geneva, Sydney, Seth, Naomi and Chloe, step-granddaughter, Annika, and great grandson, Oliver.

Christopher enjoyed a notable career as a nuclear engineer and was one of the key designers of the CANDU reactors which provide carbon-free energy to power Ontario's economy.

Christopher had a brilliant mind and was a voracious reader with a keen interest in military history. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying canoeing, hiking and trail-making.

He was, until the end, always fiercely independent and uncompromisingly himself. But, above all, he had a deep and abiding care for his fellow human beings especially his family. We will miss him and his Tilley Hat.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
