It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Christel Annie Dickie on December 24, 2023, at the age of 71.

Christel passed away peacefully next to her high school sweetheart, partner in crime, the love of her life of 50 years, Stuart. She was a devoted daughter to the late Irmgard and Theodore Wallaschek, step-daughter to the late Louis Schweitzer, loving big sister to Peter and sister-in-law to Brian & Denise. Christel was the most wonderful and dedicated mother to Michael (Amanda) and Jeff (Meghan). Finally, she was the best Grandma (her most cherished title) to Wade and Harper.

Christel will be missed by so many extended family (including Magda & Dolores) and friends, especially her lifelong best friend Nancy (Brian).

Christel worked for more than 25 years as a librarian at the Oakville Public Library. Her favourite hobbies included hiking, jogging, gardening and yoga. She loved being outdoors and spending time at cottages in Sauble Beach and Bancroft with family and friends. Camping in Maine & Cape Cod was something she looked forward to each summer when the boys were young.

Christel prided herself in taking care of her family. She was famous for her silly, immature sense of humour which she has passed on to her sons and grandchildren.

As we remember Christel, let us celebrate the beautiful moments she shared with her family and friends and the enduring legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by her presence.

Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, on Thursday January 4th, from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm.
