Cherith Yvonne Howard (nee Coke)
Peacefully in her sleep after a difficult struggle with a brain tumor, Cherith is now keeping her discerning eye on things upstairs. Loving mother of Carroll Nicholls Baker (Ted), devoted sister of Robert Coke (Lois) and proud grandmother of Dr. Emily Baker (Vernon Schneider). Cherith will be remembered as an original and a woman of principles. A devoted friend, consummate volunteer and a defender of tradition. She loved her clubs and her sports and played them as long as she could. Winters were spent in Punta Gorda Florida where she was surrounded by her many dear American friends. Her volunteer activities included The Children's Aid Society, The Junior League of Toronto, The National Ballet School, The CLGA and trying to keep her daughter out of trouble. If you wanted a job done well you had only to ask Cherith. She had two uniquely different marriages and loved her dogs. She was so looking forward to her time in heaven and was more than ready for the next chapter. Thanks go out to all the caregivers and organizations both professional and volunteer who helped so much over the last 5 months. A reception in her honor will be held at The Toronto Golf Club, 1305 Dixie Road, Mississauga on Thursday November 15th at 2pm. Donations may be made to Ian Anderson House www.ianandersonhouse.com.
