"Jerry" Dorschell
March 24, 1932 – November 7, 2022
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Charles Jerome "Jerry" Dorschell on November 7, 2022 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in his 91 st year. Beloved husband of the late Anita Jane Dorschell (nee Yellowley) for 63 years. Loving father to Leslie, Judy (Doug) Hare, Alison (Chris) Campbell, Cynthia (Colin) Martyn, granddaughter, Kimberly Hare, and step- granddaughters, Lindsay (Gabe Chinnik) Martyn, and Lauren Martyn. He was predeceased by his twin sisters Carol Gannon and Corrine Taylor.
He will be missed by his sisters-in-law Ann Gattrell, Dorothea Hammond, Evva Jarmicka and his brothers-in-law Albert Gattrell, George Gannon, his cousin Sister Mary Frances Dorschell, as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was born in Cambridge (Galt) Ontario. It was in Galt as a young man that he first began his 32 year career with the Toronto Dominion Bank (then called Bank of Toronto). He and the family moved to several towns and cities in Southern Ontario before settling in Oakville in 1974. As a second career he taught accounting and accounting for small businesses courses at Sheridan College until he retired.
Activities he enjoyed included West End retired bankers lunches, sailing, golf, and birding. He was a volunteer for March of Dimes for many years. Jerry was a people person and enjoyed making new friends wherever he went. He also loved nature and the great outdoors, especially the water, as demonstrated by his last two residences which were on the lake.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Delio of Acclaim Health, Claudia and the ladies of Oakville Physiotherapy, Dr. Rzepka, Dr. Sapir, Dr. Chiamvimonvat, Dr. Schisler & Sandra and Dr. Kates for their care of our father over the years. Also, a huge thanks to the doctors, nurses and PSW's of 6 South, 5 South and Dr. Kazem and his staff of the Palliative Care Unit all in the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
