IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Mackenzie
Davidson
June 1, 1942 – February 22, 2024
Passed away suddenly February 22 at the age of 81. Much loved husband of 59 years to Mary, brother to Alisdair (predeceased). Dearly missed father of Graeme (Lisa) and Jennifer (Michael). Proud grandfather of Zoe, Phoebe, Beverly, Fiona and Charles.
Born in 1942 in Hamilton Scotland, Charles grew up in Clydebank and attended Clydebank High School, followed by Strathclyde University. Charles and Mary married in Glasgow in 1965 and moved to England, where he earned his PhD in Microbiology in 1970 at Bath University through the Unilever Research & Development Laboratory in Sharnbrook.
Charles was invited to join Canada Packers Research Lab in Toronto a year later, and the family moved to Canada, settling in Oakville. Charles then started his own business in Mississauga with Silliker Laboratories, where he ensured the safety of Canada's food industry for 21 years until his retirement.
Throughout his career, Charles was well-respected for his scientific integrity and skilled business management. Outside of work, Charlie was a fixture of the Oakville Legion snooker league, a committed soccer dad, and enjoyed rounds with friends at the Oakville Golf Club. His lifelong support of the Glasgow Rangers brought many ups and downs which he endured with fellow supporters near and far. Always curious about people and places, he and Mary travelled widely in their retirement. Friends and family will dearly miss Charlie's gentle and considerate nature, lively conversation, and ability to always see the funny side of life.
According to Charles' wishes, a private cremation and service will follow.
