IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cecylia Dydnansky
(Née Wolak)
April 8, 1932 – July 4, 2022
Passed away on July 4, 2022 at the age of 90 in the presence of her three daughters & two sons-in-law. Predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Mike Dydnansky. She will be greatly missed by her family: daughters Diane Charlton (Adam), Christine Vitez (Mike) & Patricia Dydnansky (Donald Wiedman), her five beloved grandchildren WIlliam, Stuart & Caroline Charlton, and Cameron & Claire Vitez, her soon-to-be granddaughter-in-law Samantha Gill, sister & brother in law Eugenia & Ryszard Makowski, their son Krzysztof Makowski, nephew Zbigniew Mrozowski & family, and her large extended family in Poland.
Eldest daughter and one of 10 children of Weronika & Andrzej Wolak, Cecylia was born in the village of Dulcza Wielka in Poland in 1932. She survived WWII and had several hair-raising stories about what happens when the Front takes over your home. Following the war, she moved to Wrocław where she worked as a seamstress for 13 years, living with her aunt & her family. In 1964 she emigrated to Canada at the invitation of relatives Frank & Aniela Skrzyniarz. She arrived in Toronto after a week-long journey by boat, disembarking in Montreal and taking a train to Toronto. Here she spent the summer of 1964 and she found work as a seamstress. Her experience in Wrocław and her skill at sewing men's garments landed her with a starting pay wage of $1.20 per hour—well above the average 80 cents. Frank Skrzyniarz was impressed.
In August, Frank & Aniela conspired with their neighbour Irene Juras to introduce Cecylia to Michael Dydnansky and the pair met at a picnic. Things went well, and Cecylia & Mike were married in October 1964. After a brief time in Toronto, they moved to a small bungalow in Oakville and raised their three daughters.
Cecylia was active at their newly established Polish parish in Oakville, with the Polish Ladies Circle (Kola Polek) and was involved in organizing numerous events throughout the years and making countless pierogis. Her sewing skills were put to good use with three growing daughters and the close proximity of the fabric stores Lizanne's & Fabricland! When her elder two daughters married & started families, she embraced her role as Babcia as each of her five grandchildren arrived.
Thanks all the nurses & PSWs at Chartwell Wenleigh Long Term Care home for taking care of our mother since early April.
