Obituary

Caterina Lopez passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2026, in Oakville, Ontario, at the age of 100.

Caterina’s story began in San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria, Italy, where she was born at home. As the second oldest of five siblings, she grew up in Calabria surrounded by family, tradition, and the simple joys of life.

At just 18 years old, Caterina married her beloved husband, Giovanni Lopez, and began a life filled with love, family, and devotion. Together, they built a family and shared many years of memories, challenges, and happiness.

Caterina was blessed with five children, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and she was fortunate enough to witness five generations of her family grow and carry on the love and traditions she held so dearly.

Caterina experienced the deepest kind of heartbreak when she lost her beloved son, Gino, at just one year old. Many years later, she endured another heartbreaking loss with the passing of her daughter, Theresa, at the age of 68. These losses remained a part of her story, but Caterina carried on with remarkable strength and an enduring love for her family.

Throughout her 100 years, Caterina remained a strong, caring, and devoted woman who valued family above all else. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones and created memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Her life was a testament to strength, love, family, and resilience. The values she carried with her from Calabria became a lasting part of the family legacy she leaves behind.

Caterina will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on through the many generations she leaves behind. Her love, stories, traditions, and the lessons she shared will continue to be passed down from generation to generation.

Although she is no longer with us, the beautiful family she created is a reflection of the life she lived and the love she gave.

May she rest peacefully, reunited with those she loved and lost along the way.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
