Carolyn Jean McFarlane - February 23, 1944 - July 14, 2021
With great sadness, we announce the loss of our dear Mom, Wife, Grandma, Daughter, Sister,
Companion and life long friend best friend to many. She fought courageously in the last few
months, but sadly she was unable to continue her battle with cancer and left us far too soon.
She is predeceased by her husband, Patrick McFarlane, her parents Jim and Eve Gordon and
her brother Barry Gordon. Carol was loving mom to Jennifer (Steve), Jeffrey (Patty), Cheryl
(Chris) and loving step mom to Dawn (Derek) and Jason. She is also survived by her loving
brother Steve Gordon (Vicky) and her companion Gerry Croft.
Carol was an amazing grandma - AKA - "GMA" to Abby, Blake, Jack, Sadie, Kaitlynn, Andrew,
Olivia and Taylor. She was always their best cheer leader in life and will be missed dearly by all
of them.
She loved to travel and was lucky to have many exciting adventures with her family and best
girl friends. Her trips were always filled with so many laughs along the way. She effortlessly
maintained so many rich relationships with grandchildren and with her many groups of lifelong
friends. Her Girls Weekend gang includes friendships lasting many decades - the "Stitch and
Bitch" crew, and her Father Goetz friends. She was a longtime employee of the DPCSB and
made many friends over the years during her career. In her spare time she loved her bowling
league and all of the Morning Glory ladies, her time spent with her Probus friends and golfing
with friends and family.
Thank you to the staff, nurses and doctors at Ian Andersen House, for their loving care of our
mom during her final days.
Our lives will never be the same without you Mom, but we are so thankful for the unconditional
love and support you showed us throughout our lives. A true testament to your wonderful
character is the amazing amount of friends who called and supported us through these last few
months, you will be missed forever.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to Ian Andersen Hospice.
A small celebration of life will be held this Sunday, July 18th in Oakville, please email
jenlatimer6@icloud.com if you are interested in attending. COVID protocols will be in place.
