Carol passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 88.
Carol was born to her parents, Frederick "Fred" Davis and Dorothy née Ham in Toronto on June 23rd, 1934. She was a bright student who excelled in math and academics. Rumour has it that Carol was chosen to be the catcher on her baseball team as she was the only one that could throw from home to second base. She met the love of her life, George "Rex" Bailey as a teenager and they spent over 74 years together.
Carol's love of horses began at a young age and through her life, she was able to ride horses, race horses, and eventually owned Carolwood Farms to raise horses. She supported Rex and his entrepreneurial spirit. Together, they ran multiple businesses and made waves in Muskoka, Oakville, Cedar Springs, and Florida.
Carol devoted her life to her family. She planned elaborate family gatherings and made everyone feel welcome and loved. There was an open-door policy at her home, and the family was welcome to stay as long as they needed. For many Christmases, the family joined them in Florida, and she hosted her children and grandchildren in the summers at their cottage on Muskadasa Island.
She is fondly remembered for sharing her passion for baking and cooking - especially her banana "nana" cake and spice cookies, even welcoming great-grandchildren to bake in her kitchen.
While she is dearly missed, it is some comfort to know that Carol is now reunited with her husband Rex, her parents, Fred and Dorothy, her sons, Tommy, Michael, and Rusty, her daughter-in-law Mary, and her brother-in-law Arch.
She is survived by her children, Peter, Jeff, Danny, and his partner Lynn, Mandy, and her husband Shane, as well as her daughters-in-law Darlene, Judith, and Jess. Her siblings Victor and his wife Sandra, and Lois. Fifteen grandchildren: Melissa, Laura, Caitlin, Nicole, Jaden, Sacha, Melanie, Torri, Dynika, Alyssa, Tom, Dana, Kennedy, Devin, and Ashlyn, as well as many great-grandchildren.
Carol was so thankful for her wonderful life and loving husband, her grace and authenticity will carry on for generations to come.
With respect for Carol's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, for those who may wish, a donation in Carol Bailey's name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated.
"I love them all to the moon and back" -Carol Bailey
