IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carmel Margaret
Burns (Nee Moran)
November 24, 1934 – July 30, 2025
Carmel passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital in the early afternoon of Wednesday July 30, 2025. She had been surrounded by her family after she sustained a broken hip in late June and ultimately succumbed to the injury. Carmel, predeceased by her husband Frank (1977), brother John Moran (2006), sister Margaret Taylor (2018), her youngest son Peter (2020) and sister Mary Frawley (2023). She leaves behind her children Linda (Nick), Michael (Amanda), Susan (Antonio), and Patrick (Andrea) as well as several grand children Michael, Piet, Andrew, David, Kelly and Vivianna as well as great grand children Wylea, Kain, Lennon and Miller. She will be missed by her family and many friends in the Oakville and Burlington areas.
Becoming a widow at a young age with five teenage children Carmel, was fierce about her work ethic (getting up at 5AM) and proudly retired from Ontario Hydro in the late nineties. Carmel was especially happy of the fact her children remain close as siblings, friends and as a family.
She held a special place in her heart for hers and her children's birthplace of Saint John, New Brunswick., after moving to Oakville in late 1964. For many years, summer days were spent beachside in and around Saint John and evenings were spent enjoying large family dinners with family, uncles, aunts, grandparents and lots of cousins.
We would like to thank Carmel's GP Dr. Robert Gabriel, the attending physicians Dr. Amolins and McDowell, and all the nursing staff at OTMH. We are truly appreciative of the care they provided our mother. We would also like to thank the staff at Oakville Senior Citizens Residence. We are very grateful for the care she received and the friends she made. She enjoyed OSCR and was always treated with respect and they supported her independence, her sense of humour and personality quirks.
The immediate family will celebrate her life at a private gathering. Thank you to Mr. James Fletcher and Ms. Katherine Downey at Kopriva Taylor for their guidance and assistance.
