It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce and Myriam Mackay announce their passing; Bruce on December 28, 2020, and Myriam on January 3, 2021, from complications of COVID-19 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Bruce, 84, and Myriam, 82, were high school sweethearts. They had been married for 60 years as of July 2020, and, it seems, could not live without each other.

Bruce was born on October 30, 1936, in Toronto's St. Joseph's Hospital. He worked for the Ontario Government until his retirement in 1995. Bruce was a devoted family man who loved and supported his wife and daughters unconditionally. His great joy in life (besides completing Sudoku puzzles) was spending time with family, especially at the large Vosper family reunions.

Myriam was born on February 10, 1938 in Yugoslavia. She emigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Toronto with her family. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Toronto, and earned an honours degree in geography. She was a dedicated teacher and guidance counsellor with the Etobicoke Board of Education until her retirement in 1997. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She loved surrounding herself with loved ones, whether it was a simple dinner with one of her daughters or larger, more elaborate dinner parties with her many lifelong friends.

Myriam and Bruce raised their family in Mississauga, spending summers at their cottage on Harris Lake, which Bruce build by hand.

They are survived by their two daughters, Kerry (Michael) and Loren (Wade), grandchildren Morgan, Devon, Melora, and Ella, Myriam's sister Yvonne, Bruce's sister, Ruth, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no funeral, but a celebration of life will be organized once larger gatherings are allowed. For now, we invite you to celebrate the life that they lived in your own way in memory of a remarkable couple together until the end.
