After a full and enjoyable life, Bruce passed away suddenly at home on March 30, 2009, in his 81st year. Bruce will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jean; theirs was a true love story. He will also be greatly missed by his children, Sharman (Bob), Lauren and Darren (Vivian); his grandchildren, Corben, Tyson, Jeffrey, Trevor and Alanna; as well as many other family members, friends and former colleagues. Bruce had a rewarding and distinguished 42-year career with General Electric Canada in Peterborough, Guelph and Mississauga, retiring as a corporate manager responsible for Industrial Relations and Collective Bargaining. During his career, he was respected for his leadership, negotiating skills and achievements. As well, Bruce was active in numerous community organizations and service groups, particularly Kiwanis (Peterborough). On retirement in Oakville, Bruce and Jean enjoyed travelling and socializing with friends. The highlight of each year was spending Christmas with their children and grandchildren in British Columbia. During retirement, Bruce continued to be a voracious reader and follower of current affairs and an avid gardener. Bruce was an intelligent, gregarious and caring man with a quirky sense of humour and was beloved by all who had the good fortune to know him. No service. A gathering to remember Bruce will be held at a later date.
