January 9, 1934 – April 29, 2019
Bruce was a kind and gentle man who inspired others to be their best. Married to his high school sweetheart, Anne (Welland), this happy, loving couple embraced the adventures of life through 64 years of marriage. Together, they had three children: Karen Lynne and her son Robert with husband Michael Nimmo; Raymond Bruce and his two boys, Aaron and Justin; and, their daughter Catherine Anne and her children Zack and Jordanne with husband, Tom Mulvale.
Private and quiet by nature, Bruce's actions spoke louder than words. A gifted athlete, Bruce excelled in many team sports throughout high school at East York Collegiate Institute (EYCI) and life. He was a beloved teacher and principal, known for his dedication and encouragement to staff and students to explore and implement their own ideas. A loving father, who believed in the individuality and strengths of his children, he and Anne gave their children the unique opportunity to experience life to the fullest in city and rural homes.
Bruce passed away on April 29 th , 2019 at Simcoe Manor in Beeton, ON. A Service to Celebrate Bruce's Life will be held in the chapel of the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4 th
Donations can be made to the Global Friends Foundation ( https://hawkinsschool.causevox.com/ ) to support the school being built in Africa to honour Bruce and Anne so that their legacy as educators lives forever or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada ( alzheimer.ca ) to support those living with dementia.
