It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Branka Nemet on Monday, October 23rd, 2023, at the age of 72 following a heroic fight with a lung disease.

Daughter of Branko Branezac and Luja Uremovich (Branezac), she was born in Milanlug, Croatia and was big sister to Zeljko and Drago Branezac. She married Branko Nemet in 1968 and to make a better life for themselves and their nine month old daughter, Slavica, they immigrated to Canada in 1969. In 1973, they welcomed their second daughter, Mariane. In her 54 years in Canada, she lived in five homes where she raised her two daughters, and spent time with her five grandchildren (Matej, Marko, Sierra, Alyssa, and Michelle), and welcomed all family and friends. Branka was a devout Roman Catholic, and through the parishes she belonged to many lifelong friendships were formed. Branka was known for her cooking, baking, and especially her green thumb. Her home was always surrounded by flowers and any kind of roses you could possibly imagine. The beauty of these flowers did not match the beauty of her heart.

Alongside her husband, brothers, daughters, and grandchildren, Branka will be missed by Lidia Branezac, wife to Zeljko, Marijana Branezac, wife to Drago, and both their extended families. She will also be missed by Daniela Meleca, fiancée to Matej.

We wish to extend our warmest appreciation to the care team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton, with particular thanks to the nurses on the rehab floor and the palliative care team.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) from 3-5 pm and 6-9 pm.  Rosary prayers at 8 pm.  The funeral mass will be held on Friday October 27, 2023 at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Parish, 2110 Trafalgar Road, Oakville at 10 am.  Interment Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville.
